Born in Paraparaumu, New Zealand, Emily Little grew up in the UK. She earned an Honors degree in Drawing and Painting from Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland and later moved to Rome, Italy.
She presently lives and works between Edinburgh, Rome and Dublin.
She began painting landscapes in oils, acrylics and watercolours in her early teens while living in West Yorkshire, UK. Contemporary to this period, she was introduced to the world of the studio potter, which influenced and stimulated her ideas of form.
Her residence in Italy furthered the study of light and colour in her painting and after winning a place to study at the Italian Mint, she was able to develop her sculptural techniques such as bas-relief as well as further develop her understanding of three-dimensional space, composition and form.
